Having seen Chantal's mother on a television show recently I have to say I find the sentence handed out by the court to be ludicrous. When you consider that here in the UK a young man received a four year sentence for manslaughter it makes the US system of justice seem primitive and possibly biased towards US nationals.  When you further realise that sentences are served differently here in the UK than the US, you begin to realise how unjust Chantal's sentence to be. The four year manslaughter sentence does not mean that the young man will serve four years, he will serve two-thirds of that sentence approximately thirty one months minus time he spent remanded in custody multiplied by two. If he had spent six months in custody awaiting and during the trial it means he will only serve 19 months, that's one year and seven months for taking a human life all be it unintentionally.

I feel that this shows that here in the UK human life is worth less than money is in the US, we really do live in an insane world.
