To whom it may concern:
I met Chantal once in the mid-90's through a mutual friend, Debbie F. Debbie had always spoken so highly of Chantal and I was touched by how sweet and genuine she was when we briefly met.
When I heard of her conviction and imprisonment, I followed her story for some time through www.freechantal.com and from her phone conversations from prison with our friend, Debbie. We spoke on the phone once during her first years in prison (Chantal, I hope you remember me...I'm Deb's friend, Angie (Dunn) Haddock, formerly from Orlando.)
Here we are, many years later. I've been thinking of Chantal and went to her site to get updated. I can't believe Chantal is still in prison! This is shocking to me. I am a married woman, mother, and business owner working hard as Chantal did to make ends meet for our family. I shared Chantal's story with my husband. He and I have studied the facts and each believe in Chantal's innocence. We are deeply saddened by the hard truth that she is freedom-less because of a imperfect legal system.
Thus, our participation in the petition for her release.
We, the undersigned, believe that the 24 year, 4 month sentence for Chantal McCorkle is unjust and excessive. We also believe the time she has already served in Federal prison, along with forfeiting all of her worldly assets, more than repays society for any wrongs she may have unwittingly committed. We call upon the President of the United States, in the name of justice and humanity, to grant Chantal McCorkle a full pardon and to release her from prison immediately.
If there is anything we can do to further assist in Chantal being set free, please do not hesitate to let us know.
Sincerely,
Robert & Angela Haddock
